ARCHITECTURE HISTORY & THEORY

This module is led by Dr Filzani Illia Ibrahim alongside with tutors, Ms. Delliya Zain, Mr. Nik Syazwan, Mr. Azim Sulaiman and Mr. Nicholas.

Throughout this module, we will be learning the developments of Ancient architecture to Western architecture from the beginning of time to the period of Enlightenment. We will learn about how knowledge, aesthetical designs, technological advancement and political factors has affected the building designs. As a result, we will be able to use appropriate vocabulary while referring to buildings from different time period,

SKETCHING ANALYSIS

I will be conducting research and architectural analysis for buildings I have selected. I did Stonehenge,  Great Temple of Ramesses II, The Pantheon,The Cathedral of Florence and Chiswick House. The sketch analysis should be drawn, colored and written manually on A4 size sketchbook. I have did an analysis on architecture elements, history and building methods of each building.

ANALYSIS REPORT

In project 2, we work in a group of 8 and we carry out research on history, architecture elements and other building components to produce a comparison report about Stadium Negara and Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. We deepened our research on the construction and materialization of the buildings not mentioning analyzing the layout. The report contains a lot of content regarding both buildings mentioned.

This module was carry out online throughout the entire semester due to the the pandemic outbreak. A lecture video or live lecture will be carried out each week and tutorial tasks are also provided. I enjoy doing tutorials tasks right after lectures because it helped me to have a clearer understanding on topics that  I have just learned. Since I was able to obtain the knowledge without forcefully memorizing it, I am able to face mid term and final examinations without being stressed out. The Times activities are also interesting as we will be able to obtain digital badges after completing the activities. Although this module was carried out online, I still enjoyed the learning process as I could study in a conducive environment with provided lectures.

My module coordinator is Dr Filzani Illia Ibrahim and my tutors are Mr Nicholas and Ms Dee. I really appreciate their effort in guiding us throughout the module. Dr Filzani is always friendly and extremely responsive to any questions asked regarding the module and provides clear briefings on each projects so that we have a clear goal on what we should achieve for our submissions. Besides, I am also grateful to my tutors whom guided us patiently during each tutorial session. Overall, I really appreciate the guidance from lecturers throughout the module.
